good quote

"This life is a hospital in which each sick man is possessed by a desire to change beds. One would prefer to suffer by the stove. Another believes he would recover if he sat by the window.
I think I would be happy in that place I happen not to be, and this question of moving house is the subject of a perpetual dialogue I have with my soul."

"I think I would be happy in that place I happen not to be" that, for me, is the enigma of human existance in many ways. Be happy where you are and all is well (I envy and admire that group of people) However I fall into the other category of searching/hoping etc. "The grass is always greener ... " Prehaps not always for me tho' I always wanna see the grass wherever it is ... Australia in this case ... Now I will admit that feeling is less prevalent... And of course there can be no progress except "in the individual and by the individual himself." Baudelaire said that too

i found it on my travels through the net. it was on an expat website where people were discussing moving back to the UK and if it was ever a good idea.

is there something about the human condition that we want what we can't have? or, obtaining what we think we want doesn't bring the happiness we seek?
